"55+ without frontiers": intercultural, volunteering and training opportunities for people aged 55 and over

The network "55+ without frontiers" is an initiative of the "TraVeL AGEnts" project (Traveling, Volunteering and Learning activities generating income for the over 55s) that is funded by the European Commission in the framework of the ENEA Preparatory Action. Aiming at facilitating the mobility of older people through their participation in low-cost responsible tourism programs and in intercultural exchanges and volunteering activities for the preservation of the cultural heritage and the environmental protection, the networks will be established in 10 EU countries (Greece, Italy, Finland, Germany, Portugal, Cyprus, Estonia, Slovakia, Poland and Czech Republic).

Market Needs Assessment in Southern Giza - Invitation to Tender

In the framework of the project "Bridging The Gap - Building Community Empowerment And Sustainable Development in Southern Giza Marginal Communities", ANCE NGO is searching for an external consultancy for the Market Needs Assessment of four communities of the Southern Giza Governorate namely Abu el Nomros, Abu Ragwan, El Desamy and El Saff. Individual consultants or organizations with proven experience in the collection, analysis and presentation of data and thorough knowledge of the development issues and the labour market in Egypt are requested to submit their tenders providing complete documentation of their experience record and information on the study’s methodology and consultancy's costs. Fotovoltaic panels for low-income families in Sri Lanka

In the framework of the development project “Placement of photovoltaic panels in the district of Moneragala – Sri Lanka”, ANCE (Athens Network of Collaborating Experts) has managed to provide 300 photovoltaic panels to students’ houses and 2 panels to schools guaranteeing free electricity from the sun to about 1700 people that do not have any access to the electricity network and have no chance to gain access at least within the next 5 years. Thanks to the project that started in Moneragala in December 2006 with the co-funding of the Hellenic Aid – Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece and the approval of the Ministry of Social Services and Social Welfare of Sri Lanka, 300 fotovoltaic panels have benefited the students’ families that belong to the 32% of the population of the island that lives under the bricks of poverty in one of the most remote and less developed districts.

Sri Lankan Children’s Painting Exhibition

The NGO ANCE (Athens Network of Collaborating Experts) is organizing a Sri Lankan Children’s Painting Exhibition on Friday May 11th, 2007 that will be held in the framework of the program “One more child goes to school” at the Volunteers Information Center “Istos”, 93-95 Em. Benaki str., Exarcheia, Athens. Fifty children aged between 7 and 14 years old “say thank you” through their imagination’s masterpieces. The exhibition will last for only one day. At the end of the evening, the children’s sponsors will receive the paintings as a token of the children’s gratitude. The aim of the exhibition is to get the public closer to the “One more child goes to school” program and to support the students that live in the disadvantaged areas of Colombo, Hakmana and Kegalle.

Age Management Strategy

In the framework of the project “Transnational Exchange for Active Ageing”, which is co-funded by the European Commission - Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities DG, an Integrated Age Management Strategy was published in March 2007. The Age Management Strategy is structured around four pillars which include a number of key measures to support the retention of older workers in the labour market, to combat age discrimination in employment and to maintain and upgrade their ability and employability. Each measure is completed by successful age management practices and models. The Strategy is available in Greek and English at the web-site www.activeageing.org, and in paper copy, upon request, by ANCE.
